figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show
Caloundra as one of Australia’s most popular places to
live for people choosing to move outside one of the Nation’s
capital cities.
The total Caloundra South planning area population growth is predicted
to more than double from the 2001 census figures of 10,673 to 20,700
by 2016. In fact, there has been a 30% increase since 1996 and the
trend continues each year.
Road:
The Bruce Highway is the main artery, linking Brisbane, the State
capital, to far north centres and traversing Caloundra. Brisbane's
Gateway Bridge and connections provide a direct link between the
Sunshine and Gold Coasts.
Rail:
A regular electric rail service operates to and from Brisbane and passes through
the hinterland townships of Glass House Mountains, Beerwah, Landsborough and
Mooloolah Valley.
Air:
It is 15 minutes by light aircraft from Caloundra Airport to Brisbane.
Caloundra Airport is only a few minutes' drive from the City's commercial
heart. Interstate jet flights are available from Sunshine Coast (Maroochy)
Airport, 35 kilometres north of Caloundra.Caloundra is blessed with
near perfect weather all year round. The average annual temperature
is 25C. It is no wonder that this area was named the Sunshine Coast
where, the sun shines for almost 300 days a year and we have an average
of 7 hours of sunshine per day. |
